The group

Change form
keep the essence

In over 80 years of history, and across three generations, the Lanificio Bisentino has honed its ability to identify, select and work natural fibers to the highest levels. Over the years, the group has evolved as it acquired other businesses and founded new ones, to form a cohesive system that can offer maximum efficiency and guarantee our clients the best quality products and services.

The textile project

Three businesses, one shared passion

The desire to operate at the highest level and keep pace with the contemporary market led Lanificio Bisentino to establish and participate in other companies as valuable and fundamental assets: Manifattura BiG (100-percent owned), which specializes in the production of scarves and textile accessories, has enabled the entire Group to strengthen its knowledge of production and processing finished garments; Filatura di Spicciano (72-percent owned), specializes in spinning raw fibers into yarn and is therefore fundamental to ensuring the Lanificio's premium quality standards.

With its GRS (Global Recycled Standard) and RAF (Responsible Animal Fibers) certifications, Filatura di Spicciano has been a specialist for 30 years running in the production of recycled wool threads and yarns.

Our story

It was the year 1944 when brothers Guglielmo and Mario Gramigni and their brother in law Rolando Nincheri founded Lanificio Bisentino.

The name recalls the word “Bisenzio,” the name of the river that flows through the city of Prato and which allowed the textile manufacturing industry to flourish.

At first, seeing as World War II was still ongoing, the Lanificio produced fabrics and blankets for military camps. Indeed, the sector of military suppliers constituted an important market for all Prato's textile manufacturers in the 1900s.

Starting in the 1960s and headed by the second generation of owners, Gianpiero, Paolo and Andrea Gramigni, the Lanificio began producing fabrics for clothing and fashion brands.

In the early 2000s, the third generation of Gramigni's came to lead the Group, Giovanni, Giuditta and Guido, who, from the outset, decided to prioritize sustainable textile production.
